Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) medication?

Question:
what medication ar you on to treat your rheumatoid arthritis (RA) i have had this since birth i have been on loads of different medication just curious to see what other people are on and see how they help you as i am changing my medication

Answers:
There are too many choices to go through. If the condition is mild then NSAIDS or COX 2 inhibitors may manage the pain but not the condition. The newest "wonder drug is Remicaid.

The best thing to do if you have a chronic rheumatoid condition is to write down all medications you have tried and the results/side effects of each. Additionally, write down all other medications and medical conditions, as well as allergies.

Then, having done this, see a rhematologist. If this is a life-long condition and is causing you significant problems, even deformity a general practitioner is not adequately prepared to meet all of your needs.

I would not presume to try to recommend a treatment for this type condition over the internet. Especially without a complete history and physical exam and the appropriate labaratory test.

Please see the specialist. And good luck with your condition.
Use to take Mobic, Vioxx..
I now exercise everyday take Omega 3 and my RA and OA are doing fine.
have you tried remicad IV I've heard alot of sucsess stories with it.
I'm on Darvon pain medicine now, and sometimes it gets so severe I have to get some deep heating rub and a heating pad it helps some, so I can sleep. The pain gets so bad I can't sleep with it. It seems to be worse when a cool front is heading our way, or a rainy spell is here. I can't walk like I used to anymore, but walking did do some good when I was able to do it. I do leg exercises when I am lying in bed. It helps a little.
The best product that has worked on me is over the counter aleve
My mother is on fortnightly injections of humira and she has never felt better.
A goodly tonic to banish away arthritis and rheumatism is made of: I do this and it works for me:
1/2 grapefruit
1 orange
1 lemon
2 stalks of celery
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tbsp Epsom salt
Chop the grapefruit,orange,lemon(includ... the peelings) and celery fine and simmer in 4 cups of warm water for an hour.Press through a jelly bag and stir in the vinegar and Epsom salts. Dilute each 1/4 cup of this tonic with a full glass of water and drink in the morning and the evenings.

I try not to take any pills and do it the old way...
Have you tried a Yahoo search for "rheumatoid arthritis" + "natural remedies"? Perhaps natural remedies might be better than your doctor's prescription medicines.
My partner is on sulphasalazine, a pretty potent drug which doesn't suit everyone but works well for him. It is well monitored to make sure your body is coping with it though. I read recently that there are some new drugs out that are supposed to be very good and with minimal side affects. Look up the R.A site and see if it tells you more about them or ask your gp. Lavender oil is supposed to be soothing too if rubbed into joints daily.
