Gradually start going to bed a little earlier every couple nights. If you've been staying up late ever night, you're body has become accustomed to the new sleep routine. You just need to coax it back into the old one. Also try getting up a little earlier in the morning too.
Try taking a warm shower before you go to bed it usually does the trick. Good Luck
Have you tried Melatonin... it's naturally occuring in your body and might really help. Its safe and has worked for me in the past.
take a shower before bed, If you really have a little trouble, take an advil PM or a swig of benedryl, JK the shower should help, no caffine for 2 hours before bed,
I used to have my kids start around now, and go to bed 10-15 minutes earlier every night, until school started.
It may help to get up and to go to bed at a given hour. If it doesn't work start setting both times earlier by about 10-15 minutes every 2 or 3 days. you might try working out, walking or exercising about 4 or 5 hours before time for bed, take a warm shower. I hope this helps
warm milk ! mmmmmmmmm go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep little Sylvana, go to sleep, go to sleep...or get a clock with an alarm, and start getting up early NOW.
One thing you could try is melatonin. I also find that drinking a cup of warm milk before I go to bed helps a lot. Warmed water can work too. Perhaps read a bit? If you're a reader, you might want to try reading a couple of chapters of a good book before you go to bed.
Try to get some exercise in the day so you may feel a little tired and sleepy at night.. and always fix your bed at its most comfortable state..=)
You could try lavender oil. This is good in a warm bath before retiring and can also be put on the pillow. A warm, caffeine free, drink is good and avoid reading, exercise and TV for at least half an hour before you want to go to sleep as this are brain stimulants.
I soak in a warm tub with lavender or eucalytus. Then if I'm still not tired enough I make what my daddy made me when I was little. I warm up some milk with a little butter & pour it over toast. Or occassionally I'll make a little warm cocoa.
Then I focus my mind on something mind numbing like watching fan blades go around or a lava lamp bubble up & down.
You can also buy summer flannel pajamas to put on after the bath soak so you can get all cozy. Make sure the room isn't too hot or cold.
If after a half hour or so you still can't sleep get up & walk around a little or read a book. Don't lay there and toss and turn. That just makes it worse.
Another friend has a secret that helps her on really bad nights to sleep. She closes her eyes & begins praying for everyone she cares about. Next thing you know it's morning & she's waking up.
Another trick is get comfortable, close your eyes & think about each part of your body from the toes up concentrating on relaxing each part before moving to the next. This helps alot too.
Try staying up all night. This has worked for me!
Try getting up really early and pack your day full of activities like walking and get lots of fresh air. Then by the time its bed time you are tired, get back into the routine of school now and then when it comes you'll have no problem. Also try putting drops of lavender oil on your pillow.
I would get up earlier and be more active throughout the day. Also, try to avoid those amazing summer naps, so you'll actually be tired when you want to be.
