Do (black) ant bites require any special attention?
Question:
It may be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry?
Answers:
ant bites are nasty little things!! i'm severely allergic so anytime i get bit-my whole foot, arm, leg, etc swells up and i have to take benadryl.
you should be just fine. you can use hydrocortisone cream or benadryl cream directly on the bites to reduce the itching and swelling-it can be found at any local drugstore (walgreens).
try not to itch them b/c we carry germs under our fingernails and you run the risk of getting an infection if you scratch too much.
hope this helps
No attention needed other then maybe some neosporin, and don't itch them! If you itch them and they open it can get infected really easily. Keep them clean and they will disappear in about 3 days!
Ah, the beauty that is the fire ant. Don't worry about it, I had the same thing happen when I first moved to Texas. I always thought only red ants could bite, but here in Texas, we have these lovely little beasties we call fire ants, which are black, and pack one heck of a bite. It will itch for a while, and probably come to a head. Just mix some baking soda with water to form a paste, put it on the bite, and that should help with itching. Have fun!
They prefer to be called African American ants.
my assumpiton is you are in the north east. and nope they should be ok just put a little ointment on your bits but they are not like fire ants.
