How can I get my back fixed if I can't work and work comp won't pay.?

Question:
I had a work accident in 2001 ended up with spondylolisthesis, Texas DWC ruled at a hearing it was caused by the accident but the insurance co refuses to pay for surgery. I am to the point now of not being able to stand but about 30 minutes and I have a bulging disc pressing on my spinal column between L5 & L6. I'm afraid I am in for real trouble soon, I have pain management but that can only do so much. If it gets to the point my life is in danger from high blood pressure or loss of bowel control, will a county hospital step in and help.
Thanks Spondyman

Last time I checked we do not have a L-6 lumbar but it would be the S-1.

Why/how can you get a judgment but it not be enforced?

Yes, a county type hospital would have to treat you when it deteriorates to the point of life threatening as you described.

Have you seen the movie Sicko? You need to see the movie!

I would go on vacation to Canada, have an episode while on vacation and have Canada's universal heath care treat you for free.

GOOD LUCK!
I was injured in 2000, had surgery 2001, workmans comp was a nightmare! they purposly didn't send my cks ontime, all my bills were being shut off, my lawyer said they can be 30 days late, & by the time he filed with court, they'd send money, they had all the rights. once they did the surgery fusion l-4 l-5, it only helped a little, to this day I can only sit for 30 minutes, stand 30 minutes, etc, I was forced to accept the settlement (came to 6 months income) due to financial distress, now I live on 1/2 what I got on comp, $800 month social security at 40yrs old! I just got told Dr did surgery wrong 6 yrs later, and just posted question asking if I can sue or re-open case. all I can say is apply now for social security so its retroactive, apply for section 8 housing, waiting list is 7 yrs long, if I was told that, I'd be paying low rent by now, but just applied online 2 yrs ago. by the time you get to top of list, you can see if you qualify and pay like $100 rent if you end up not getting fixed like me. I wish someone would've told me all this. fight comp, apply for everything you can, good luck
You are between the rock & a hard place. Sometimes we are unfortunate to have an extra lumbar vertebra. When this happens it usually causes trouble because it isn't formed correctly. With all your back problems & money problems, you might could get medicaid. Medicaid has medical benefits & you could go to a neurosurgeon with your problem. It's a long shot, but try it.

Do you have a lawyer for this personal injury? You mnight try that route to break the insurance loose.
back problems are serious business. i know because i have a disk problem as well. you need to hire work compensation lawyers. and reopen the case. as it is they're getting away with murder. you are going to be dealing with back pain for the rest of your life. you can either crawl away with your tail between your legs or suck it up and get into your battle gear. and give them a fight they won't soon forget. even if you must bring it out here to the supreme court. when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. or, am I presuming to much here?they have a machine that produces an infra red healing light, that you can use for your back. where the stone will move under your entire back, healing as it goes. ask your therapist about it, also yoga, and if you can stand it aerobics are excellent. I've heard that the machine has healed people from all walks of life. and not just from back pain. so dust off those boxing gloves. just in case some fool might wanna fight.
