Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/... for more info
Have a hot cup of milk and read books before going to bed. Good Luck.
i tried meds, they screwd me up..i did a 8 mile hike in 6 hrs in the mountains..came home, crashed on my bed half naked with the lights on lol...try running for 30 minutes every now and then
Melantonin 5mg at Walgreen. I have two under my tongue even as I write this. It is also an anti-oxidant. I really like the way I feel even if I sleep for three to four hours.
You have my greatest sympathy. I am a card carrying member of Insomniacs Annon. You did not mention what tip you have tried.
Some people find that Melatonin helps to reset their sleep clock. That is sold over the counter. Benadryl and Unisom are made of the exact same ingredient..Diphenhydramine. It is often used to induce sleep.
If none of these work, it is time to talk to your doc.
Theres a few options for you and some advise
One dont take a shower before bed cause if your like me it makes you wide awake
Two what is it that makes you awake at night .. your mind or your body. Yes one can be tired and not the other and makes for a hard to go to sleep if both arent.
It also could be caused by hormonal problems yes it does happen.
There is a few vitamins that could help
Valerian :Valerian is a relaxant herb that has a calming effect on the nervous system. For insomnia it helps induce sleep quickly, decreasing the amount of time taken to fall asleep. Valerian like some drugs modulates GABA receptors which are present in 40 of the brains cells. Over activity is thought to cause nervousness and insomnia, however valerian is very mild with no side effects, grogginess or addiction.
Chamomile : Chamomile is known as a mild herb but can be surprisingly effective. It promotes sleep with tranquilizing action similar to some drugs. Chamomile also helps reduce stress related chemicals in the brain and promotes adrenal health. Avoid if you are allergic to ragweed
Passionflower : Works with the body to create a balance for exhaustion, overwork, anxiety, stress, drugs, alcohol, asthma, cough and pain related insomnia. Acts as a mild MAO inhibitor without the hangover or sedative properties
