Just Started Percocet. Does Anybody Have Experience With These Kind Of Pills? If So Please Read?
Question:
I just need to know if 6 hours is enough time for the effects of the first pill to be gone, so my second dose isn't STRONGER than the first one. Your probally reading this and not gettin it all.
Basically, after my first dose, Does or willl it make the rest of the doses stronger since the percocet will still be in my system? Im very new to taking medication, and 10mg is fine for me. I just want to make sure my 2nd dose isn't going to be stronger because 10mg is PERFECT. I Just seem to think that since its still in my system it could make the effects of the 2nd pill stronger. Does anybody have any experience with these pills?
Answers:
If you wait 6 hrs you will be fine. I had to take Percocet twice in my life (wisdom teeth out & endrometriosis). I had minor surgery and the doc gave it to me. It really did'nt do much for me and my dose was more that 10mg. When I had the wisdom teeth out it was every 4 hours and I took it as my doctor told me with no side effects. Medication goes through the blood stream and stays in you for awhile but after 6 hrs it is GONE. think about it this way: You eat supper and it takes 2 hrs for your body to digest the food & then your stomach is EMPTY ! The doctor would not give you a prescription to take every 6 hrs if after 6 hrs it means you take another 10mg but because you took one 6 hrs ago the pill you are about to take with the medication in you equals a pill that is really 20mg. NO WAY! The pill is gone after 6 hrs. Don't worry !!
If that is what is prescribed...your doctor felt that the dose was fine (Duh...I know). However, there are many people on much higher doses and at 4-6 hours...they are in bad, bad shape though. Plus, be careful if you need it for several weeks...it can become addictive and can (not always) cause mood swings/personality changes..
I didn't know that Percocet was even around anymore. I was on it after having wisdom teeth removed. Made me a bit giddy. That was 20 years ago. It worked alright. I wouldn't worry about the accumulation effect after the second pill. It seems to wear off quickly and completely. I'm not the authority though. You should confirm your suspicions with your Doc.
Six hours is the minimum time your doctor has apparently suggested you wait. That doesn't mean you have to take them every six hours. If you aren't in pain, don't take it. If you are hurting again in six hours, then it is safe to take.
on your pill bottle does it say take every six hrs or does it say take every 6 hrs as needed for pain?
just take them as ur docter says and dont wrry about it wont hurt you
