Relieve back pain...
1. Pain management
2. Keep moving, don't rest, don't force your self but keep moving
3. What ever it was you did that put you in this position... don't do it again!
for sure see a Chiropractor. Especially one tyhat is knowledgable concerning rehab and other alternatives and can decide if Yoga, acupuncture etc will work. Also make sure X-ray films are taken WEIGHT BEARNG. Many problems do not sdhow up until the spine is stressed as in standing, bending etc. Often times traditional medical exams do not go far enough.
get a second opinion
I agree with the first answer, a really good chiropractor can make a world of difference, and there are Yoga exercises that can target certain areas and relieve pain. Also, consider having your thyroid checked. For awhile I was having unexplained pain, especially in my hands. I got an appointment with a nurse practitioner and he told me that an underactive thyroid can cause pain like that. So I got tested and I did have an underactive thyroid and as soon as I got on medication the pain was gone. I don't know if you have this or not, but it never hurts to get it checked. Good luck.
Try some massage therapy. If you have insurance you can go to Physical Therapy. I've had back problems, upper and lower for many years. Make sure you are sitting and standing correctly, sounds like you might have the beginning of repetitive motion injury, and make sure you wear a good shoe with support for your low back. If all else fails, take to bed for a couple hours extra during the day to rest your back. I finally had to do that to get rid of a pain in my upper right quadrant of my back (I think it was a pinched nerve from my neck) that persisted for over 6 months. Put some rice in an old sock and throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and apply to your sore spots while resting. Make sure it is not too hot and not on your bare skin. Last but not least, try a Chiropractor, sometimes they help.
Having a bad back is certainly no fun.
i got upper and lower back pain when i ran. i went to a phsio and now i dont feel pain anymore, they really helped by giving me exercises which improved my core stability. pilates is also good for back pain.
I have back pain but nothing old ibuprofen can't sort out. I have heard though that Yoga or Pilates are very good for strengthening your muscles in your back among other areas.
find a recommended chiropractor and if anything sore use ice packs for 20mins
was off work for 3 months in agony get better and then something happens to make it worse
my friend has also let me borrow one of those esm machines which stimulate the muscles so will see what thats like
others have suggested a tens machine which is similar
Have you considered using a tens machine, there small so you can carry them on you, they work great as they send a slight shock signal up the spine to the brain, its called tens because it gets to your brain ten times faster than the pain signal, the tens doesn't hurt, in fact its like a little massage that the pain signal cant get through.
Assuming you have been xrayed, and that your bones are clear then I would definetley recommend that you do regular exercises for your joints. I think you may find tai chi is better than yoga for this. It is very balanced and gentle with no risk of injury. If you want to take a look, Dr Paul Lam's DVD's are the best around.
Alexander Technique is another option you may wish to try.
After 4 year your consultant should be doing better than telling you what it isn't that you are suffering from. Perhaps you should being seeing another expert.
There may still be a slight chance your pain is unrelated to the injury-my back pain ,related to an infection, was greatly helped by FAR infrared sauna. Maybe a health club has one local to you,or you could get a second opinion from a chiropractor.
