Should i go to my regular dr or a gyno??

Question:
Should i go to my regular dr or a gyno??
Hi. Ive never been to a gyno dr. before and im 18. About weeks ago i had sex w/o a condom. Ive never been w anyone else and i dont think he has either. The past week ive been really itchy down there and i dont know whats wrong. At first I thought i had a uti bc i was having really bad pains in my uterus area. But then it became itchy and today the "lips" look a little swolen and red. And inside of them (that area) is very sore and a little swolen. I dont know whats wrong. I was thinking maybe a bad yeast infection (ive never had one b4), or maybe vaginosis (not sure if that is what its called). What do u think? And i dont know which dr. to go to the gyno or my regular dr. I dont want my mom to know. So what do u think?? And what do u need to "sign up" for the gyno dr.? sry this is kinda dumb. lol thankyou!!

It sounds like a trip to the gynocologist is in order, for a quick consultation about the itchiness and yeast infection-like symptoms, and to have a little consultation about various birth control methods, condoms, and the like, since it's your first time and all.

Think of a gynocologist as a "ladies' doctor." You go to your regular family doctor for problems all over your body, and you go to your "lady doctor" when you have an issue specifically with the female parts of your body. =)

You might like to find a gynocologist who is female, btw. Having a relative stranger look closely at your parts down there is a little weird at first, and I have several friends who've said that it's even worse if the gyno is a man. ^_^;

Now, to set up an appointment with a gynocologist is pretty easy. First, you'll need to find one. Either ask some friends who they'd recommend, or look in the yellow pages. The only problem might be that you'll have to pay for the visit if you don't mention any insurance your family has.
Therefore, the other option is to find out whether your family has health insurance, find out which insurance company you're covered by, and then look up on the web which doctors your insurance company will pay for. This option will probably mean that you will have to tell your mom at some point about it. You are 18, and even though you're a very *young* adult, you *are* an adult. Remind her of that gently, and be nice to her. It'll be kind of tough for her to realize her daughter isn't little anymore, y'know?

After you've found a gyno, call and set up an appointment. They'll probably have you fill out the usual paperwork about family medical history, and then they'll ask about your insurance, and that's it.

I hope everything goes well. Take care!
I would go to the gynecologist.
You should see the gyno. They specialize in that area. Additionally, you can go to planned parenthood as well and they can do the testing for you. As long as you are of age, it should be held confidential.

BTW, start using a condom. Your just to young to get tied down with a baby or worse an std. Good luck.
you are supposed to see a gyno when your around 16 so you should get going
Hello, go to the gyno, and don't worry I think they don't need to tell or ask your parents permission. Never play with your life always use a condom and play it safe.
