What methods do you use to stop your mind from racing and thinking stupid things when you are trying to sleep?

had a bad nights sleep last night and am exhausted today :-(

NO caffeine after 3:00.give ur self time for YOU!! take a walk...then a bath. CHAMOMILE tea is AWESOME @ bedtime...then try starting with ur feet...relax them...moving up the parts of the body..meditation techniques are prov en! also @ the health food store there r HERBS that really work!! just ask he clerk .they will help! hope this helps good luck!!
I usually start with a nice hot shower to relax me. Then when I lay down, I try to empty my mind and think of nothingness or something peaceful like the waves of the ocean breaking onto the shore. Otherwise, the entire day and it's events going running through it.
Avoid caffiene from late afternoon on..
Give yourself time to wind down from the day...put on some restful music and take a bubble bath.
Try relaxation breathing.
Eat foods with L-Tryptophan an amino acid that also tends to relax...turkey, milk products.
Hello, when I can't sleep I count backward from around 300 and I try to see the numbers on a black board just like when we write them on the board. It works every time.
I do the same thing. Last night was terrible. I got up and started cleaning house at 5:30. As much as I talk in the daytime hours I don't talk when I lay down because my wheels start turning and I'm awake half the night. Let's hope we both have a better night tonight.
