Yoga backache?

Question:
I just began doing yoga about 9 days ago. I have taken 2 days off to rest so I have done 7 yoga workouts. I have a really bad backache today and I am trying to write a paper at my computer but my back hurts really bad. I also got my period 4 days ago so this may be contributing to the problem. Could yoga be the cause of this backache? What can I do?

Answers:
Well dear, to start with yoga u may have gone for it to heavy at once.i mean within 9 days 7 times? I sometimes still feel my back badly although doing it now for over two years, but that shows me only that i did work quite hard and vanishes after a day for sure. It's also depending on your teacher, or class, if u go for many Asanas, or only a few, and if u go for all although u may be not yet ready for some of them, but this should be under the control of the teacher. so please calm down, and maybe u first check some other schools too, as a good teacher would not let u go so far. And just remember, Yoga is not a competition of moving your body in all directions, u only should go as far as your feeling/body tells u is ok, because if u do not take care u will first of all lose interest in it very fast again, and secondly and what is even worse u can really hurt or injure yourself. so please take care as Yoga, if properly practice is a real wonderful gain in your life...
