WHat do you call the doctors who take care of you right away when the ambulance brings you in?

Question:
When I say take care I mean like when you get in a car accident and your half dying and you get to the hospital and there are doctors you try to save you right away? What are they called?

Answers:
Emergency physicians.

Emergency medicine is a specialty, just like pediatrics, or orthopedics. Emergency physicians will have had post-med school training in trauma.

Any hospital that is a designated trauma center has to have emergency physicians.

Smaller, community hospitals may have all their doctors taking turns in the ER.
So, in a small hospital, the ER doctor one night might be the ob-gyn, with an internist there the night after.

I like to think of them as angels. They are there to help people get through serious life threatening medical problems and also try to get patients back to normal as soon as possible.

So I guess they are Angelic Doctors!
