Tetanus from Barbed Wire Scrape?

Question:
I'm scared I might get Tetanus from a scrape I recieved 2 days ago. I was running through the woods and tripped over some very old rusty exposed barbed wire. The would did not puncturre the skin, it only made a small scrape of the outside of the skin. Should I be worried about getting tetanus?

Answers:
Tetanus comes from an organism in the soil, not from rust. A minor cut does not need a booster shot but every 10 years, a deeply contaminated wound, you should get a booster after 5 year. Wash the wound, and you should be fine if you had a booster 3 yrs ago. You could still get an ordinary infection, and if you have warmth redness, pain, pus (calor, rubor or dolor, ) the three cardinal signs of infection, see a medical practitioner. You can die from a minor cut infection. You can get "staph" infection that can damage your kidneys etc. People can die from a papercut!
If you haven't had a tetanus shot in the past five years, yes, you are susceptible. Why not call your doc and ask if he thinks you need one?
na if it hasnt given you lock jaw yet ur alright
no puncture...no problem
Tetanus is spread through the blood. If it didn't draw blood you should be fine, and I believe tetanus is swifter than two days. That's not to say tetanus was the only thing you could catch from rusty barbed wire, and if it's been longer than five years you should get a shot anyway.
