Dancer's back pain?

Question:
I'm an avid dancer but my back pain is limiting my movement possibilities. When I bend foward for any amount of time, my whole lower back tenses up painfully and will only be released if I arch my back the other way for awhile. Additionally, when I sit in a straddle, I get a sharp pain in the middle of my lumbar spine (I know it is muscular because it is eased by heat). In almost any sitting position, I CANNOT get on my sitz bones, especially without contracting my hip flexors. One time in December I felt an intense pain in the middle of my lower back; I could not stand up, and the doc diagnosed me with muscle spasms.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what is going on, or advice on how to ease the pain without stopping dancing? Any stretches/strengthening I can do? If it is muscle spasms, how can they be prevented, and what is this milder pain I feel whenever I bend over? This is a serious problem for me and any input is appreciated.

Answers:
Obviously you have muscles spasm in the back but the cause of those muscle spasms is not known. Muscles in the back dont spasm for no reason. There could be several causes of the spasms.you could have a herniated intervertebral disc, could have a vertebrae out of alignment, could have your sacroilliac (SI) joint out of alignment. My suggestion is that you need to see a physical therapist (preferably a manual one) to have your spine and pelvis assessed. You can do all the stretches you want but if you dont find the cause then this will be a recurring problem.
do yoga every morning to stretch. Tone down your dancing. And sleep on a comfotable matress, It'll help with your back pain. And before you do a dance routine maybe you should take an advil to relieve the pain.
