Dear Fugha,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. Things like this can be very scary, especially when you're the one going through it.

I don't know where you are from but, do you have chiropractors there? Seeing a chiropractor and showing him/her your x-ray, could just save you from an operation. I don't know the severity of your problem but, I have known people with slipped disks that have been helped by chiropractors, simply by aligning back up the disk to it's proper place. If yours, on the other hand, is decaying or crushed, then you would have to have surgery.

My mother had a crushed disk and had to have surgery. She came through in very good condition. It took her about two weeks to recover completely and she was off and running again! It was as if nothing had ever happened. That was about twelve years ago. With all the new abilities that doctors have at their disposal today, if I were you, I wouldn't worry. You'll be in and out before you know it and you'll laugh later at how worried you were!

I hope this has encouraged you! Don't worry. All will be well!
What happens if the world ends today, all operations are serious,I think the benefits outweigh the risk, they are minor.
I had back surgery years ago, i was do to get a perm settlement for life, but I'm a honest person and i told them the surgery helped as it did, so i didn't gain financially from my on the job injury? I'm sure it will help you, but its true what they say once a bad back always a bad back, I'm having another operation soon to have a stimulator implant put in to block pain, Good Luck.
I had this operation in 1963 after being completely immobilised at age 22. Within 6 weeks after coming out of hospital I was practising karate. I am now 66 with vertually no ill effects. Go for it, the operation is commonplace these days and is a far better bet than ending up in a wheelchair! Sure there is a risk but there is with any surgery. Be positive and you will be a new person.
i had it done in june of 2005 and it was a breeze they gave me an epidural and something to take a 45 minute nap when i woke up it was done i had a little discomfort it was more stiffness than pain but they had me up and walking in acouple of hours and was home 12 hours after the surgery so its no problem. if its not sucessful then you would still have the same problems you are having now but i dont know any that i have chatted with that it hasnt been a success.
