What can you do if you have Low blood pressure?

Question:
The doc said nothing is wrong. But I get light-headed a lot, especialy from a lying position. Many times, I have almost blacked out. The doc said more salt! It seems to work, salt, if I am working in the yard and get 'woozie'. I used to eat sugar or sip soda, but I tried potato chips and it worked. Any other sugestions for the woozieness or natural supplements?

Thanks!

Answers:
There are two separate issues here.
1. Make sure that you get out of bed or a chair slowly. If you have been lying down, sit up in bed, then turn and let your legs touch the floor. Don't just jump out of bed or a chair.
2. If you are working in the yard, you may be having a reaction to the heat. If you are sweating a lot, you will lose sodium and potassium. When you get back indoors, have a glass of orange juice with those chips, and remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
In general, eat a healthy diet and drink 8-10 large glasses of water daily. This will keep you well nourished and well hydrated, both of which are very important. Mild dehydration can be a contributing cause to low blood pressure.

There are jelly beans you can buy at drug stores that help me allot. They are meant to be for people with diabetes so they are loaded with sugar.
Most common cause of low blood pressure (hypotension) is poor nutrition. Most popular home remedies are beet root juice and an Indian herb called spikenard taken in a tea. Sugar-laced stuff will just spike your blood sugar for a few minutes and you're back to where you started. Have a look to ensure you're having balaanced meals each day...cheers
