Some pills are not meant to be crushed up...but it should tell you that on the label. Some of them will mess up your teeth...so be sure to check before you do that. I had a really hard time swallowing pills when I was a kid and my parents made me take all these vitamins that were big...so here's what I started to do, and it still works for me to this day. I get a drink (it can be anything) and I put a swig in my mouth without swallowing. Then, I tilt my head back, open my mouth, drop the pill way back in there, and swallow. It usually goes down just as if there were no pill there as long as you have a big enough drink in your mouth and keep your head way back. Give it a try. Good luck to you!
Crush them and put them in pudding!
ask ur doc cuz sum meds u can n sum u cant!! cuz my mom is 33 n she has never took a pill she hates em goodd luck
Some pills are time-released capsules, while others are coated tablets so as to not cause irritation as they are going down to the stomach--those would be ones that you wouldn't want to crush. But I've found that if you drink water from a bottle-neck container (like a Coke bottle), pills go down easier--like being "flushed". Also, keep telling yourself that the pill is not as big as a piece of meat and you are able to swallow that.
Not always a good idea to do that. Some pills should not be cut because it'll affect they rate at which they are absorbed in the body. Some can prove fatal when crushed up. Call your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist if your particular drugs are safe to cut or crush.
Heres what you can do
You can try to swallow it and drink a whole glass of water rite after or yes you can crush it and drink it that way it is the same thing as just to swallowing it.Also try putting water on your toungue then put the pill on the water and swallow with more water. It might help.
I've had the same problem all my life. Crushing pills is okay, put them in some applesauce and eat them. When you crush some of them, they can taste pretty bad, so putting them in something like applesauce helps with the taste. Instead of crushing them I chew up about two crackers, and before I swallow, I pop the pill into the middle of my mouth. I can't feel the pill when it goes down, and I've found this very easy to do. Some pills can not be crushed, so ask your doctor or a pharmacist first. I just find the cracker method much easier than crushing and having to ask.
You really have to check with a doctor first because some pills can be crushed and some can not. Many medications now come in those thin-strips, quick dissolve tablets, or in liquid forms for people who can not swallow pills. Look for medications in those forms as well.
for the most part, yes. there are pills that will say "DO NOT CRUSH" on the bottle, its always good to look the medication up online, and make sure that crushing before ingesting is acceptable.
vitamins, and herbal supplements, this is also acceptable for. if it is just a gag reflex you have, or a phobia you have, of taking the pill whole, it will go away with time, as you are prescribed different medications throughout the years, for whatever you may be diagnosed with.
if you have a prescription, and you need to look it up online,
i have found this is site is one of the most complete for every different type of medicine:
http://www.webmd.com/drugs/index-drugs.a...
type the drug's name into the box, and read any warnings or advisories for the drug.
if you prefer a different method, or that website does not list your medication, type the medicine's name into google. you will most likely find what you need there.
Many "pills" are not to be taken in a "crushed" way because it might irritate the stomach lining, and cause iritation, I help my young ones swollow their medications by telling them to put the pill close to the end of their toung and drink their juice, water, milk etc like there was no tomorrow thus giving them the ability to down the "pill"... many pills are now pre cut or can be pre-cut at the pharmacy if you ask in advanced. or their is a chewable or a liquied form.. hope this helps you out.
It depends on what kind of medication it is whether you should crush it or not. Some meds should not be crushed because they have a time release coating on them and it can release all of the medicine at once instead of over a period of time. You should ask a pharmacist or read the package insert before crushing.
I taught both of my children to swallow pills by using m&m's. For some reason it helped with the mental block of swallowing a pill because it was just candy. Once you master swallowing an m&m whole, then use the same method and try a pill.
some you cant crush because they are time realsed talk to you docter about it some you may be abled to crush some you might be abled to get in liquid form
