What should i do if i have a piece of glass in my foot?
Question:
Answers:
First things first, sanitize your hands and foot by washing it with antibacterial soap and/or rub rubbing alcohol around the area (perferably both on the foot, however rubbing alcohol does sting). Once you have that done, try to push around the area and see if you can pop the piece of glass out, but watch out! Don't over do it. If you can't get it out by slightly pushing around the area, leave it alone and go to a hospital/clinic to get it removed. Its best not to remove the glass by yourself with tweezers because it could cause a bigger wound and cause the foot to swell even more. Plus, if the tweezer is not sanitized properly, it could put you in a higher risk for an infection. Therefore, I would suggest you go to the hospital/clinic to seek professional help on the removal of the glass. Before you go, apply Neosporin (I recommend Neosporin but any other antibiotic cream, such that First Aid ointment, will work out perfectly). Also, remember to put a bandage over it to lower the risk of any suspicious germs into the cut.
Good luck =]
either go to the doctor.. or start digging
you need to get yourself to an ER, get the glass out and get a Tetanus shot if you haven't had one in the last 10 years.
Taking it out yourself will probably just aggravate it. It could start bleeding again, and you could introduce additional germs into the wound.
.
UMMM heres a thought go to the doctor and put lots of water or alcohol on it
hope it stops hurting!
Squeeze it like a pimple to pop the glass out and then use peroxide on it to bubble out any left over glass.
Ow! I can almost feel it from here.
It should be perfectly safe to pull out, but try to find a pair of tweezers or some kind of tool - a small pair of pliers perhaps.
Glass is by nature very clean but disinfect the wound afterwards to kill any germs.
see the dr...it sounds awful.OO
If you have hydrogen peroxide handy, pour it over the wound & yes, you have to get it out and tweezers are the best. Once out, pour hydrogen peroxide again, it will fizzle and sterilize the wound, then if it bleeds alot, take gauze and wrap it around it and tape it. If it's small enough for a band-aid, then use that.
You may have to redress it everyday to keep it from getting infected, and make sure all the glass is out.
you can put duct tape on it then just lift off. of course clean it afterwards. goodluck.
You said that piece of glass is embedded one centimeter into your foot. Don't attempt to remove it. Get to an emergency centre and let them do the job. Just protect the effected area and seek expert advice. This is a basic firat aid procedure. Embedded objects should be removed by trained people and in a clean environment.
Try using a small pair of toenail clippers, scissors, or a sewing needle to get it out. Then you should pour peroxide over it to make sure all of the germs get washed out.
