I am really scared. I'm not sure what to do really.?

Question:
Hey everyone, hope everything is going well.
I have been having chest pains for the past few months, I've been to the doctors they've given me inhalers saying its my athsma being irritated. But I'm hardly short of breath etc and it just doesn't feel right.
It started off in the front. Not bad, hardly noticable but still there. Now it's much worse and is round the back, round the shoulder blades. My dr said thats where I'm wheezy and the inhalers do help a bit, but if I'm on the meds I'm meant to be on, why is it still hurting as much? Yes, it is less frequent now, but it still feels just as painful when it does come up. She said it could be muscular?
I won't lie, I do smoke, and I know I shouldn't, But even that is starting to get on my nerves, I feel like crap when I do smoke, and I feel unsettled when I don't. So either way I'm miserable.

Answers:
I think it's a combination of all you problems, both physical and psychological.
You need to take control of what you can. Smoke less, work at relaxing. Do something that makes you feel comforted. I have a favorite blanket that I curl up in. Or I make small gifts for peope - magnets or whatever.

Be extra nice to yourself.
Do you know if the doctor considered pleurisy? This is an inflammation of the lining outside the lungs. See the links below. A young friend of mine struggles with this problem. You really need to stop smoking, it is sooo destructive to your body. Good luck.
If you feel like crap when you smoke, take that as a sign to not smoke.
Contact your doctor as soon as possible. Call your doctor now and he (or she) should have a doctor on call after hours if you are calling after 5pm.
Until you get to your doctor, or to the emergency room, you should stop smoking.
The advise below might not mix with your athsma medication. Ask the pharmacist.
Get some Tylenol and take them according to the directions. Also get some Maloxx liquid antacid and Tums antacid tablets.
What you are describing sounds like anxiety related heartburn but it could be a heart condition.
If you decide to go to the emergency room get an EKG reading, chest xray and a stress test.
When I get a anxiety attack and all stressed out, I get this way scary and painfull episode of heart attack like chest pains. I have seen my doctor about them and he agreed with me after (forgot the name of the test) EKG, it was on the tip of my tongue.

Anyway (sorry) the test showed no abnormalities, he then mentioned something called "anjina?".

The bottom line is if you are still unsetteld about this situation then tell your doctor that you would like more investigation into what could be causing it.

Chest pains are nothing to be taken lightly!!!

Good Luck.
