Sore knee problem?

Question:
this week i went to a 4 1/2 hour soccer camp for five days and my knee was killing me! it might be because i fell on a stair on saturday, but i dont know if that could cause it to hurt this much. any ideas on what i did? could i have sprained it or something? im worried!

Answers:
Most likely patellofemoral pain syndrome...could have been triggered by falling on it and irritating the tissue underneath the knee cap, or could be that you have a poorly tracking knee cap. If the pain continues for more than 7-10 days then you should see an orthopedic doctor to have the knee examined.
You could have just strained it. I play soccer too and I understand. I got hurt at soccer practice once (knee too). You could have pulled something. I would go to the doctor.
I think if you fell on it and then over did it, that'd certainly be extremely painful. Imagine someone punching your arm really hard, then lifting weights for hours. I would try to take it easy, but if you're really serious about soccer, going and seeing a doctor to see exactly what you need to do would be your best shot.

I think a little time off it really might do the trick though.
Yeah youve maybe just twisted it or badly sprained it. If i were you i would consult a doctor because if it hurt for that long then maybe its serious
it is either a strain, or a tear. rest it for now and see if it gets better. if not, or if swelling occurs, then see your physician and request a MRI - another name for a fancy x-ray. this will show tears (meniscus). a regular x-ray will not show this.
