I think you fell on stinging nettles...
Take some leaves from a mint plant, and put it on the infected area...
I used to have those all the time when I was young, mint leaves take care of it pretty well. =]
I am not sure what the real name for this weed is but us country folk here in Northern Missouri call it itch weed. Warm water and some mild soap should take care of it.
