Not just withdrawals but also boredom and trying to find things to do to occupy his mind and hands. He has been doing everything he does in life the past 35 yrs smoking. Now he has to learn how to do them without a cigarette. People think that the only habit is the nicotine but its so much more than that! Everyone has little routines they do every day like when getting ready for work, after dinner, driving in the car, talking on the phone etc. Smoking a cigarette is part of all those routines and so now he might feel like his whole world has been turned upside down trying to manage those task without the smoking
It's called "withdrawal". Quitting smoking, for most is harder than quitting heroin.
its a very thing to quit smoking. he must be strong. well as for the sounds he makes i dont know i havenever heard of that
Sounds about right. Every one who quits experiences their own withdrawal symptoms. His brain is overloaded and his body is geting rid of it any way it can. Be patient with him, help him, etc. He is going through some MAJOR body and brain changes.
Withdrawals are horrible honey. Take him in for a check up he made need a mild sedative to calm his nerves.
God bless him for doing it and God Speed.
Peace
Are you forcing your husband to quit smoking? - then you may have the chords too tight - this in turn would reduce the oxygen to the brain and he'd become goofy - If you slacken them off he may perk up a bit - another method would be to keep him on a leash.
He's probably acting silly to distract himself when he needs a cigarette. I think it's good that he's able to do so instead of picking up another bad habit.
i think thats really normal actually. my mom smoked for 30 years before quitting cold turkey 4.5 yrs ago.
She would start laughing.I mean just lose her mind laughing for no reason. I was just happy she wasn't b*tchy like how some people get. But yeah, I think it's got to be some kind of chemical reaction in their brain that was pent up for so many years. Who knows? But the beautiful thing is, is that both your husband and my mom made the great decision to quit smoking...
I wish him the best of luck :)
Greetings. Congrats on deciding to quit. I personally used Chantix and was finally able to quit after over thirty years smoking. I swear by it. I also started a yahoo group dedicated to helping those who are trying to quit with extensive files, links, news, etc. attached that can answer any question you might have regarding smokng and quitting. I think I have two different files just on withdrawals. Feel free to have a look.
