I would probably go to your general practice doctor and let him/her recommend a specialist. They may be able to do an early diagnosis and point you to the right person or be able to treat it themselves.
I thought I might have Carpal Tunnel but I found out that one of the key symptoms is numbness in the fingers. As it turns out I just had tendinitis in my forearms and wrists.
I purchased an ergonomically correct wrist keyboard pad and mouse pad and adjusted my chair at work (i had been sitting too low). After a few days the pain was pretty much gone.
I'm no doctor, but it sounds a lot like carpal tunnel syndrome. Do you use computers - or some other repetitive task that involves your wrist a lot? If so, I'd tell your doctor about it.
The pop in your wrist may also indicate a torn muscle or ligament. No matter what it is, it's time to visit your doctor.
