It dosn't look normal.
I have the excact same thing on my lower spine. But mine was getting whacked in the spine with a pickaxe. It broke my vertabra but not spine. thank God!
Until you can see you Doctor for an x-ray I would place a cold pack on it and go lie on your side. Trying to keep straight. Place some pillows in front of you and behind. This will give you support and hold the cold pack.
Go see you Doctor.
If you have injured it recently as it looks very red, go to the ER instead for the x-ray and treatment.
Better to be safe than sorry with your spine.
I refused to go to the hospital and sucked up the discomfort but in realistically I now know I should have gone as the spine is now fused in this place. And still looks like your does 20 years later!

Until then please use a hard bed try to lie on yopur back without putting any sort of pressure. keep your sitting posture straight. Avoid picking wait.
