I was told by a doc I had arthritis now my new doc says I don't have it, Do I have a case for malpractice?

Question:
This was back in 2003 I've been in serious pain and been given medication that didn't work because it was for something I never had now I have no idea what is really causing my pain and I've wasted years not getting the proper treatment all because I was told I had arthritis in my hip.

Answers:
There are so many types of arthritis. People tend to generalize and put it in one category. You still may have it, but the med was wrong for you. My suggestion is another opinion. I know it's aggravating to keep getting opinions, but as a nurse, I always get 3 and take the 2 who say the same. If all 3 say something different, keep looking. What are some of your symptoms. I have rheumatoid arthritis, as well as 2 other forms. You must be having a difficult time walking if you have arthritis in your hip. Please get another opinion and I would really be interested in your symptoms. I could look it up in my medical books and see what they say. It's up to you. I hope you feel better soon. I know your pain.
So what did they say you have...Bursitis? Not unless the treatment caused you harm. Malpractice wouldn't be serious enough just because they wasted your time. It the treatment damaged you then yes otherwise...not really. Malpractice is VERY difficult!
no!
Keep in mind, Doctors "practice". Medicine is not an exact science. What did a second opinion reveal? Many initial diagnoses are modified after they don't seem to be completely on the mark. Many of us are bent on suing these days. It is a terrible drain on medical resources and financial cost to those that pay the price for higher medical costs. There are things, like leaving surgical instruments inside the body cavity after surgery or removing the wrong body part that would prompt a lawsuit, of course.
