Help, my stomach hurts?
Question:
Answers:
Abdominal pain can be caused by many things. You seem to be saying it is random - like coming and going and was triggered by food or liquids.
My first guess is either an ulcer or your gallbladder.
I would try Prilosec - -
and if this does not help it in about 6 hours,
I'd be calling the Dr. and tell them how bad your stomach hurts so you can get a quicker appointment.or go to a local clinic or ambulatory care clinic.
If Prilosec does help, take another Prilosec in 12 hours and then do the next pills every 24 hours.
Prilosec is basically the same as Nexium - but not as strong and Nexium is a longer lasting pill.
Here's things you need to tell your doctor:
When the pain first started.
If there were previous episodes of similar pain.
How frequently episodes of pain occur.
If each episode of pain starts gradually or suddenly.
The severity of the pain.
What causes the pain and what makes the pain worse.
What relieves the pain.
The type of the pain.
Is the pain sharp or dull, burning or pressure like? Is the pain jabbing and fleeting, steady and unrelenting or crampy (coming and going)?
If the pain is associated with fever, chills, sweats, diarrhea, weight loss, constipation, rectal bleeding, loss of appetite, nausea or loss of energy?
CAUSES for STOMACH PAIN:
Infection or inflammation (ex:. appendicitis, diverticulitis, colitis ), and ulcer.
Stretching or distention/swelling (example - obstruction of the intestine and gas developing in the part separated,)
Blockage of a bile duct by gallstones,
Swelling of the liver with hepatitis,
Loss of the supply of blood to an organ (e.g., ischemic colitis).
To complicate matters, however, abdominal pain also can occur without inflammation, distention or loss of blood supply.
An important example of this latter type of pain is the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is not clear what causes the abdominal pain in IBS, but it is believed to be due either to abnormal contractions of the intestinal muscles (e.g., spasm) or abnormally sensitive nerves within the intestines that give rise to painful sensations when there does not 'appear' to be a problem.
Medications you are currently taking, including herbs, vitamins, minerals, and food supplements.
Your allergies.
The medications that you have tried for your abdominal pain.
After the visit, do not expect an instant cure or immediate diagnosis.
You may have to have several tests before finding out what is causing the pain.
Notify your doctor if your symptoms are getting worse, if medications are not working, or if you think you are having side effects from the medication.
Call your doctor for test results. Never assume that "the test must be fine since my doctor never called."
Do not self medicate (including herbs, supplements) without discussing with your doctor.
Even the best physician never bats 1000. Do not hesitate to openly discuss with your doctor referrals for 2nd or 3rd opinions if diagnosis cannot be firmly established and pain persists.
Self education is important, but make sure what you read came from credible sources.
you could try not eating till the pain has subsided. try to drink clear liquids at room temperature -clear sodas are best. if the pain persists, consider calling your doctor or going to the ER.
take a painkiller and go to the emrgency room...they will definetly give you something to treat that...
Tea...always soothes my stomach..try some with a little bit of Honey, relax and try to have BM, sounds like trapped gas to me
health is something not 2 take risks with a doctor is the best solution rather than YouQA.com guessing!
Ok, first your not starting your monthly cycle right? Ok pushing that aside thinking that u would know if it were that .maybe you ate something that your body didn't agree with and now causing your stomach to act up.maybe you can get a heating pad and see if that helps with the contractions pains. If it doesn't stop you should see a doctor cause you never know what it could be .don't take any chances .
if it persists see a doc. it could be an ulcer.
