When the doctors check for strap throat?
Question:
Answers:
they do that because they need a sample of your the tissue to check for the strep throat bacteria. I've had the test a couple of times, and they dont go too far down so it doesnt make you gag. I think it's the only way to check.
it does make you gag a little bit, but my old doctor has a trick to do doing it, you open your mouth and breathe like a dog,...i didn't gag at all, sound really weird but it works..
as for any other ways, i am unsure
The throat is swabbed on the sides in the tonsil area. If there are spots these are usually a target for swabbing. Meantime it is the uvula (hangs down in back of throat) that is the site of the gag reflex and it isn't touched.
It only takes a second. If you have strep throat the q-tip will hurt and you won't even think about puking. Sorry the fastest way to relief is the q-tip.
You mean "strep" short for streptococcus infection...anyway, if it's done properly you may gag a little when they swab, but really it depends on your gag reflex. Some people are more sensitive. Yes, it's the only diagnostic test but some doctors will just look in there and if it appears to be strep, prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic (they kill lots of different germs). That should clear it up.
