Chiro is awesome- however I tried doing anything to avoid surgery last year and eventually the pain got so bad I couldn't hardly sit up straight (let alone walk) and shortly after all that I woke up one morning and couldn't feel my legs. I ended up having to go for emergency surgery. I'm NOT trying to scare you, just be careful, (no heavy lifting, etc). Definitely try out a really good Chiropractor and if your pain isn't better after about 4 or 5 visits you might want to find a Nuerosurgeon for a second opinion and to explore other options. Good Luck and hope you feel better soon!
If you truly have a buldging disc "slipped disc" and not a herniated disc you should try and find a McKenzie practitioner. In my office we see a lot of lower back problems and the one technique that works the best is McKenzie technique. You want to make sure that the person you see is proficient in McKenzie, there are a lot of people out there that state that they know McKenzie, but really don't. We get patients in our office and they say they went to a place that did McKenzie and then we ask what they did, a lot of times they gave the wrong directions to the patient. If you do see anyone and want to know if they are doing the right thing you can message me if you want. Good luck
With me having the same problem as you, my neuro surgeon suggested I stay off work for at least two weeks. Complete bed rest except for hot showers. No heavy lifting and never sit in a recliner. I have found laying on a heating pad to be useful when I am in pain. I always lay a towel over the heating pad and turn the pad on low to prevent burns. Sometimes I will try heat for 10-15 minutes and follow this with ice for 10-15 minutes.
I feel sorry for you to have such pain.
Take care, and God be with you.
