Is it okay to have a 6-hour sleep on Ambien?

Question:
I took a pill last night at midnight (12am), and woke up at 6am 'cause I forgot to switch my alarm clock. Is it okay to have a 6-hour sleep on Ambien, when I saw that I should take Ambien for a 7-8 hour sleep?

Answers:
It's harder to wake up for work/school/whatever on Ambien if you haven't gotten the full 7-8 hours of sleep. But it won't hurt you.

Just be careful not to mix it w/ alcohol. Ambien + liquor = strange hallucinations
I'm sure that it's perfectly fine. Medicines can't always be perfect. Just because you take it for a 7-8 hour sleep doesn't mean that it wont be a little more or a little less. I would say don't worry about it. But if you're really worried ask the doctor who prescribed it to you.
