Does anyone know of a good inexpensive health insurance for a single person?

Question:
health insurance

Answers:
There is no one company or plan that is best for every person in every situation. If you visit a local independent agent you'll be able to compare the hundreds of policies available in one place. The agent knows the market in your area and can find the best plan for your situation and budget. The plans and premiums are exactly the same whether you go through the agent or buy directly from the company.

You may get answers here concerning medical discount plans. Be very wary of these plans. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn’t find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well.

Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.

I have had Humana for a while. It is pretty cheap.
Health Net is a good insurance. I would go there.
The best health insurance to get is a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) coupled with an HSA (Health Savings Account).

My plan for example is a $2700 deductible plan and I pay $141 per month.

The cool thing about this plan is that you can add money into your HSA bank account up to the deductible, it works like an IRA, except that you can use the money in the account for any covered event.

Let's say that you have a health plan but no dental plan. No problem, you can pay for your dental costs with the HSA. And, all monies in the HSA is tax deductible!

But you say you can't afford to put in $2700 for singles ($4500 I think for married couples)?

No problem! Let's say you need glasses and it's going to cost you $200. Take the $200 and put it into the HSA. When you pay for the glasses from the HSA, that money is tax deductible.

Too confusing? I may not have explained this very well. Go to http://www.hsabank.com to get more info. I use this bank.

(I am not an employee of them or a stock holder of them so I have no vested interest here.)

There are other institutions that have this service but I find them to have the best fee structure (meaning, they are the least expensive) and they have a ton of information on their site. If you have questions, you can call them too! They have real customer service!

There’s a new company offering low cost individual health plans in Texas for young, reasonably healthy people, and is a great health insurance solution for single people. You buy into a plan at a super low cost with fixed benefits that will cover the typical activities and preventative care of a healthy person. Then, if something catastrophic happens, you have the option to get additional levels of coverage, even AFTER the event. A healthy male 25-years-old (and under) would pay under $100 a month for basic coverage. Check them out at http://www.precedent.com - Even if you’re not in Texas, my understanding is that they’ll be offering plans in additional states soon. I hope you find what you need!
