If you choose to stay awake for a colonoscopy, will you be put to sleep if something is found that will be?

Question:
taken care of during the test? (I need to stay awake as long as possible to prevent "night terrors" during the procedure)

Answers:
I had a sigmoidoscopy, very similar to colonoscopy, except that colonoscopy is used to examine deeper than sigmoidoscopy. I had it during times when they did not give anesthesia. It was so painful, I wouldn't have minded euthanasia!! A couple of guys who looked like all-in wrestlers were holding me down. Even they were having a rough time controlling me.

I understand that nowadays one feels nothing at all.

If something is found, they'll let you know and and treat appropriately later. They don't start surgery and things like that, when they're doing a colonoscopy. This is a diagnostic tool.
You won't be totally awake. If you were, the Doctor would have a hard time. You will be put in a "twilight sleep". And no, if Polops are found they will be safely removed. I myself went totally under. The next thing I knew I was waking up none the worse.
I tried to stay awake, they don't put you totally under. They say my eyes were open and I was making jokes, talking, asking questions, but I have absolutely no recollection of the entire procedure. I remember being wheeled into the room, the doc saying hi, and the next thing I knew I was in the passenger seat of my car! Funny thing was, as soon as I got home i told my sister she could leave, I could watch my own kids, I sat on the couch and didn't wake up for six hours! good thing she didn't leave! She could tell I was out of it!
