Question:
My 6 year old daughter fractured her wrist playing on our trampoline last thursday (aug 9th). We was told it was a buckle fracture a break like a step, a half plaster cast was put on her for the swelling to go down. When leaving the hopstial only a sent appointment could be made for the fracture clinic, which is aug 20th surely this should have been changed by now
Answers:
I'd ring up the fracture clinic and check if I were you. I don't know about the different types of fractures, but when I had an accident and emergency department placement (I'm a student nurse), the majority of people with fractures would have the half plaster put on, and then they would go to fracture clinic the next day (or the following Monday if it was a weekend) and they would change it, if they felt there was to be no more swelling. It may be different, perhaps it is a fracture I didn't see whilst on placement or becasue your little girl is only 6.
