Sharp Pain on my Side??

Question:
I have been having a problem lately. For the past 4 weeks I have been working out about 5 times a week, and I have noticed about the past 3 times that the first five minutes or so that I am exercising on the treadmill I get this sharp pain on my right side, right under my chest area, by my rib. It tends to go away after 5 to 10 minutes, but its extremely uncomfortable, and I am not sure what is going on, I was thinking it may be a pulled muscle, since certain positions will ease the pain. Today I also noticed as I was walking around alot at a theme park today that it began hurting off and on. does anyone possibly have any answers to this or ever experience it... do you think its a pulled muscle. or something else?? Any input would be great! Thanks

Answers:
I had this problem also and actually thought I might be having a heart attack or something. I went to the emergency room and $900 later found out it was only a pulled muscle! Turns out I strained some muscles lifting something--a railroad tie actually.
Anyway--I took a week off (seven days) and it went away. See your Doc if this remedy does not work----somethings wrong.
Its a stitch, you stretch it out by stretching the arm of whatever side is hurting over your head to the other side of your body.
it could just be cramps from not breathing right. Take slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth while you're exercising.pace yourself!
I would get it checked out you might have pulled a muscle or something worse i would get ahold of my Doctor right away .
If you pulled a muscle, you would know exactly when and where it happened. It is likely not a muscle pull. It is likely the stitch that others here have mentioned. It will likely decrease as you get in better shape and learn to breathe properly.
Hi Angela I have raced in several triathlons and have had that problem before and it could be several problem but i am gonna name a few.1 It could be that your body isn't producing enough salt so therfore cramps are starting to occur.
2.It could be that your not eating enough food before you workout or not eating the right food before you workout.
3.Eat a banana it should help with the cramps as well.
4.You maybe over doing it with excercising.

best of luck to you!
