What do you think..I'm having trouble sleeping...?

Question:
I have 4 wks & 4 days left before my scheduled c-section. I have been having trouble sleeping the whole time I've been pregnant but since I've been in the third trimester it is so much worse. One day last week, I only slept for 1 & a 1/2 hours & was up the rest of the night. Can't nap during the day because, that's just it I can't nap! I also have another child who doesn't nap. I have had insomnia my whole life, & I am bipolar 2 & when I get anxious I can't sleep. My OB tells me I can only take Ambien ( I had a bad reaction ), Tylenol PM (doesn't work for me) or Benadryl (not strong enough either). Another doctor gave me Lunesta (didn't work) I told the OB this today & he had a coniption over it. I don't want to harm my baby by taking something to sleep, but realistically I cannot go the rest of my pregnancy w/out sleep especially since obviously you don't get any sleep w/ a newborn! My last OB let me take tylenol w/ codeine, which helped. How can I get him to take me seriously?

Answers:
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information

When you have trouble sleeping, there are many things you can do to help you relax...

Don't drink caffeine (obviously), as it will strongly affect your sleep.

Within 1-2 hours of your bedtime, don't eat anything, particularly chocolate, as it has caffeine.

Refrain from taking anymore sleeping pills!

Drink a glass of warm or cold milk before your bedtime.

Also, a whiff of cologne or perfume is supposed to help relax the body.

If you still can't sleep:

Relax. Don't get anxious, just relax. Let your thoughts wander. Eventually you will drop off. Take 15 deep breaths and then close your eyes, trying to sleep.

Read or watch TV. Don't find the sleeplessness. After awhile, lay back down, and you will find yourself much more tired and susceptible to sleep.

Good luck!
