What helps you sleep?

Question:
I have a real problem sleeping when my boyfriend works on nights and I have to be up at half nine as I have a hairdressers appointment at ten and then i'm going to a gig so I am going to be knackered unless I get some sleep. I can't relax when i'm in bed when i'm by myself, its really weird and it means whenever he works on this shift I am constantly lacking sleep! Grrr! How do you manage to get to sleep if you can't?

Answers:
get yourself a lover, for when hes at work
Warm bath with Lavender scents, candles, relaxing music

Chamomile or Sleepy Time tea

Deep breathing down into your belly as if you were pushing out a belt at least three times

close your eyes and say three time that each part of you body is relaxing from your head to your toes

Say to yourself, this bed is so comfy, i feel so good, i don't care if I sleep at all because I am just so comfy

Teddy Bear

Pet

Hope something works
A couple glasses of wine always help me sleep!
sex
A glass of milk, a few squares of chocolate, the radio playing very quietly (usually not properly on a station so it sounds fuzzy) and a book.

I think the ambient sounds from the radio static (best if you have a Short Wave radio) replaces the natural sounds of your lover and it fills the silence from them not being there. I certainly know that moving from the city to the edge of the country has always made it difficult for me to sleep. It's too quiet where I live now and I miss the sounds of factories and distant traffic, so the radio replaces some of that too.

I also have an old cassette tape of a thunder storm. Rain and thunder always makes me sleepy. If there is a natural sound that lulls you to sleep, then see if you can find a CD and play that at a low volume.

The wine idea someone suggested is fine as long as it doesn't give you indigestion and wake you up.

And finally - if all else fails - I can think of a solo activity I can do in bed which tires me out (wink).
my girlfriend loves me working nights she tells me that she gets a decent night sleep as im not stealing the quilt or snoring lol . but as i work nights my shift messes up my sleep pattern but what i do is have a large mug of horlicks & listen to 1 of fave cds by royskopp its so easy listening that it helps me drop off to sleep
Take a warm bath or shower. Try to ease your body and mind ~ relax...
read a book. not an interesting novel but something which you might find boring. like architecture, history, or my personal favourite the environmental quality act. you'll fall asleep within minutes.
Watching tv in bed works for me! It dosnt matter how interesting the program is I always find this a great way to wind down.

Perhaps you need a new mattress or a mattress topper. I bought a memory foam mattress topper from ebay and it was very reasonable and absolutely fab. I also had to buy one for my daughters bed in the end because she wanted to sleep in mine all the time as it was so comfy.

Nice plump pillows also help.

Good luck!! ZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
have a couple of joints !!
