Yes it does!!
I do yoga for severe neck pain and it takes it away immediately. Be sure to do hatha yoga which is the best for any body pain in my opinion.
I've had lower back pain for a long time, and I'm young.. I've heard yoga can be really helpful for this so if it helps you I hope it helps me. Good luck.
If done properly, yoga is good for the back. You need a good teacher to teach the correct way to do the poses -- there are too many subtleties to be learned from books and videos alone -- and yoga is not magic, and it still requires effort.
