Has anyone heard of a spider bite that causes recurring symptoms of fever, swelling, blurred vision& blistering?
Question:
Answers:
It really depends how long these symptoms have been going on. I was bit by a black widow spider not too long ago, and even with treatment (Bactrim, Keflex, Benadryl, and Prednisone) that the ER gave me, I was still experiencing itching, fever, and throat problems almost 9 days later. Blurred vision and blistering do not sound like a spider bite however the fever and swelling could quite possibly be from a spider bite. Your symptoms are pretty serious, you should see a doctor.
Yes. Black widows do this. Brown recluse has the added feature of causing the area around the bite to die and leave a good sized hole in the tissue that scars over.
the brown recluse spider,
Spider bites do not cause recurrent systemic symptoms (fever). They do not cause blurred vision. Brown recluse spider bites cause symptoms usually wihtin 8 hours and mostly pain at the bite site and skin changes there later (blistering and later black necrotic ulcer). Occasionally brown recluse spider bites cause fever (not recurring). Brown recluse bites are vastly overdiagnosed (up to 80% misdiagnosis).
It does not sound like your symptoms are from a spider bite.
I do believe the White Tail spider has symptoms such as these..
