Do I need a shot?

I was stapling stuff on the wall, the staples wouldnt come out, so I hit the staple thing really hard with my hand, I STAPLED my palm, my sister said sometimes if you get metal in you, you need a shot, do I need a shot?

Hi!first what shot are you thinking about getting?I assume it's the tetanus shot. It really depend if there is rust on the staple wire then you must consider seeing your doctor because it might get infected and you might get tetanus. If it is a new staple wire then you can just make sure that there are no fragments of it left on your palm, clean your wound and keep it clean and dry to prevent setting in of infection. If it gets infected anyway, you can get antibiotics like Cloxacillin for it (make sure you are not allergic to penicillins).

have you had a tetnis shot in the past 7 years? if not, then yes, you probably need one. call your primary care doctor to be sure.

i would say yes get to a doctor right away my dad is a paramedic and i know a lot about this kind of thing please go get a shot or go to the doctor as soon as possible!!!!!!!!... luck!!!!!!!!!!...

Not usually unless the metal is rusty like a rusty nail or something it should be fine.

she's right but heres the thing if you haven't had ur tetanus shot within the last 7 years you should get it you can always call you doctor and find out when the last time was just to make sure nothing happens get it checked out by your doctor F.Y.I. just to let you know the metal doesn't have to be rusted for you to get an infection and thats not the only time you need the tetanus shot so i would call your doctor asap and ask them what you should do
