Hernia symptoms?
Question:
i fractured my hip about 7 months ago mountainbiking and i think i have a hernia but my doctor said i dont.
i have a bump in my groin like in the crack where leg attaches to body. it hurts when i do sports and after the pain leaves from my hip it goes to my lower back after a day or two. it feels a little weird when i walk.
the doctor told me it was just muscles swollen up a few months ago. im going back to the doctor next week. the question is, if its not a hernia, what is it and what do i do to stop it cause it can get pretty painful.
Answers:
when it comes to something like this, doctors always diagnose a problem with something simple like muscle pain...if the pain doesn't go away from the first visit to the second visit, then the doctor will say it may be something else and do tests to see what it is...i suggest to you that you take some over the counter motrin to decrease the inflammation now. take it as directed. if u seriously have a hernia, then your doctor should order a ct scan or an ultrasound to see if it is..and if you do have a hernia from the results, then he/she should refer you to a surgeon. good luck!
A lump will generally indicate a hernia. An ultrasound will normally tell if it is a hernia, otherwise a procedure called a herniogram. The herniogram is where they inject dye into your stomach, it is very good and decisive.
You could also have a hip inpingement caused by the ball of your hip rubbing the cartiledge, thats's what might cause the pain. The lump may be a blockage in your glands.
You should have seen a doctor sooner. Sports specialists would be a good choice for you.
