If you hurt your back in a fender bender, what's the best way to heal it without going to the doctor?

first, u should take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (ex: motrin, advil, ibuprofen (choose one and take as directed.) then you should always stretch your back and walk as much as you can...use hot and cold packs...don't rest..walking is good to heal a strained muscle (due to spasm)..
now let me tell you, if you feel any tingling or painful sensation that radiates down to one or both legs, this may be serious.. ask someone to do the knee reflex...you know where you hit that part of the knee and it moves? do it to both knees and see if they both equally move forward..also ask someone to check your leg sensation along your calf to your feet by using a toothpick (prick along sides and middle of both legs)...see if you feel the toothpick to be sharp or dull. if you feel that your reflex are not equal and sensation is not sharp, and you have pain that radiates down your leg, then you might have something serious: a disc herniation... and for this you need to see a doctor...
but do what i told you first, take the motrin, hot/cold packs to your back, exercise and stretch your back... and if this is just a strained muscle, this should get better by 3-4 weeks..goodluck!
depends on what injury you received. also dont try the rambo stuff, just go to the doctor.
If you want pain relief, icing your lower back is best, better than the hot-cold alternation. Your vertebra in your lower back have been bumped out of proper alignment. It is best that you see a chiropractor for a few visits. Exercise is not going to make it get better by itself.
