Having had a loved one go thru detox, and rehab..
Do your homework, and check out ALL of the places you would consider you would like to go to.
Do you smoke?

Do you have a nurse/doctor on site?
How many patients does the place keep?
(the bigger the facility, the more lost in the shuffle you will get)
I prefer the homes that house 6-12 people, and have in home group support and individual support.
Make sure you have your family, friends and loved ones involved, you will need all the support you can get.
YOU are very BRAVE and HONEST and READY you have admitted that you have a problem, and are asking for help.
Put in a call to all the detox, and rehab places, visit them, take a friend along to help you check the place out, and if you find one you like their program, and they have a detox on site...go now. Call your doctor and leave a message, I am ready to go to detox, please advise, Or I'm at ________ detox and rehab serenity house, please contact me at this number so you can coordinate with my caregivers.
Make sure the place is licenced, find out how long they have been in business, what they charge, and what their repeat of clients is. how successful are their people who are ready and willing.
you already have the willing spirit to go, and you know what to do, pick up the phone book, leave page for your md, and then start calling rehab and detox centers.
you can detox at a hospital, a mental hospital or at a well run rehab.
My loved one detoxed at a large drug/alcohol facility and it took 4 days, and they gave him meds to ease the shakes, and keep his food down, etc.

are you willing to do whatever it takes?
when 15 loritabs are no longer enough, when we exceed 4 a day, we have a problem, and no amount of drugs can fix that.

and it works if you work it!
DEFINITELY discuss this with your pain management doctor before you do anything. You may feel that you are ready to be off the meds, but your doctor might feel differently. Your doctor will also help you in weaning yourself off them. Withdrawal is going to suck, especially because it is so easy to make the symptoms go away, by just taking a pill, but be strong. The nausea, insomnia, headaches, hot and cold sweats, etc are not fun at all, but once you are off the meds you will feel like a new person in my opinion. Also, something I learned during my experinces was that your body will be hypersensitive to pain until about 90 days or so after completely going off the meds once you start weaning down. So the littlest ache or pain can feel exruciating. Something to keep in mind. Good luck to you.
Talk with your Doctor he can tell you what to expect Your doctor is not going to take you off cold turkey they just lower the dose and the amount your taking per day. while monitoring you. In other words for each week the dose is lower and the amount lesser.
