Does anyone know how to relieve the constant burning pain from nerve damage ?

Ask for Lyrica. It was designed for that very reason. Also, the doctor SHOULD definitely prescribe a pain med stronger than Tylenol 3. Its unbelievable that the doctor hasn't done that yet. GO SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR! Ask for Lyrica!!

Has she seen a Neurologist for nerve block treatments?
This condition is very common after a bout of the shingles.
You mom's doctor should have given her pain medication for the pain. If not she should ask for some.

Sometimes, medications that are prescribed for seizures can reduce nerve pain. Neurotonin, Tegretol these are the brand names. Has she been evaluated by a specialist?? Specifically, a Neurologist. The pain from shingles and other viral infections that affect the nerve root pain , can linger for over a year or longer. It would be best that she seek the advice and/or treatment by a specialist.
