Question:
1 day last week i woke up and i assume that i must have slept on my arm the wrong way because it was stiff and sort of numb. around 30 minutes or so i reached over to grab something off of the table and i got a shot of pain in my thumb on my left hand. the pain was like a numbness tingling mixed with 100 needles getting stuck at the tip of my thumb that lasted for 2,3 seconds. it has done it before maybe a month or so but hasnt done it since last week. after trying to look it up on google and webmd the only thing i can come up with is maybe carpal tunnel. would just like to know if anyone else has experinced this or if there is a health professional who might read this and give me some better insight.
Answers:
Numbness, tingling and needles sensations are all usually nerve related. Your idea toward carpal tunnel is in the right direction. Do you do a lot of text messaging? Game playing that involves use of the thumb for buttons or holding? Do you have full movement of your thumb otherwise? You might want to look at the Hand University, see the link below and look at De Quervain's tenosynovitis. If it persists, see a health care provider.
