I have had about a dozen or so knee surgeries, but the worst pain has been over the past few months. After a surgery in September I had internal bleeding in the joint causing SEVERE pain and redness and swelling. It kept getting worse and worse and eventually I could not bend my leg at all. I was rushed to the ER where the doctor drained 100 cc's of blood form my knee and a few days later it happened again. In case you don't know how much that is, for a typical adult male who may have a problem like this, about 30 cc's of blood might be taken out and I am a small framed chick. I was in so much pain and no pain medication was helping at all, so eventually they just knocked me out. Oddly enough the night I was at the ER there was a woman in the bed next to me who was there for the same problem and she told me she had 3 kids and labor was nothing compared to what we were both going through. This happened last September and to this day, my knee is still recovering. I have been out of work on disability, going to physical therapy, had 2 additional surgeries and my leg is still swollen and does not bend all the way. It SUCKS!
child birth.
gall stones.
Nothing is worse than the pain from a severe burn. NOTHING!
Childbirth hands down 3 times no drugs.
Oh and ouch hope your shoulder is feeling better.
This is a tie between child birth and falling on a wood stove that was hot.
Spraining my ankle at the beginning of a show I was dancing in and then having to finish the ENTIRE show before I could leave the stage.
And.being bitten on the bottom by a goose. That's a long story. Don't ask.
For me, it was the two weeks following my tonsilectomy two years ago. I have had several plastic/reconstructive operations, so I know what post op pain is. This was horrendous.
They say that an adult tonsilectomy is worse, I think they are right. I couldnt even take the vicodin Rx because it made me sick, I had an allergic reation to the prescribed anti-biotic, and my throat was so sore I ate only applesauce for 10 days.
Having second degree burns covering both hands in the third grade and my stupid teacher forcing me to write with them.
aside form driving myself to the hospital in labour with 2 babies.I had somehow bruised my ribs and pulled the tendons or muscles(?) between them...I was in so much pain I could not sit up straight, wear a bra, hold my nursing baby...I was taking such shallow breaths becuase of the pain that I then had a collapsed lung. I let it go for 3 weeks because I hate to go to the doctor and be told there is nothin gwrong with me, I just kept thinking 'It will get better, It;s not that bad'...I finally gave in, x rays, pain meds, and I was told to monitor my breathing...ouch.
playing basketball with torn ligaments because your team barely has the lead. and you don't want to tell your coach because he is a hot head.
Yes...that sounds horrible!
Well, I've been lucky I guess: the only painful thing that I had to go through was getting half of my toenail removed. It was horrible and gross...LOL
I've been pretty lucky in that department. A sprained ankle is the worst pain I've felt. Before I had insurance, though, I suffered through some pretty bad toothaches.
Getting my tonsils out at age 23. It was just miserable.
Gall bladder attacks > Kidney stone > 2 bones broken in wrist and one was sticking through the skin > Childbirth > broken toes > reinjured my bad knee with the missing ACL (one bone snapped so violently against the other one it bruised it.
1st "worst" was my amputated leg, 31 years ago. I was unconscious and sedated so I really had no "feel" post-surgery on my entire left side. THANK GOODNESS!
2nd worst was an ingrown Toe nail, 22 years ago. - I almost had the entire toenail removed because it was so severely ingrown.
3rd "worst" was a broken leg in a local canyon, 15 years ago. - This one was only a broken femur that LUCKILY did not tear through my skin nor tear the muscles that border it.
labor pains --d@mn that hurt!
Indigestion pain is a b1tch too.
Ear and toothache pain is no picnic either.
urinary tract infection is hell.
I would have to say have a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy & bilateral opherectomy, which means having all of my female organs removed. The pain was so severe that the morphine drip did not stop it, thank goodness I was able to use it every 3 minutes the first 12 hours. A week after this, I started bleeding vaginally (which was not supposed to have happened because I had no female organs). This was on 12/15/01, I kept going to my gyno & he said it was the 'cuff' bleeding, on Christmas Eve, I went to the emergency room. I was rushed in because I had the TAH & was bleeding, I found out that day that I had a blood clot the size of a grapefruit, so I went back to my gyno & he claimed the same reasoning , the cuff, until I told him that the ER doctor said it was a blood clot...sure enough he takes another look and bingo, he lanced it which hurt worse than breaking a finger. I know I probally gave out TMI..but wanted to gett the point across of how bad it was
The worst pain i have ever had would be a herniated disc at L4/L5 with nerve root impingment. Also I have had kidney stones twice that is no picnic either they both hurt like hell.
