Emergency room?
Question:
What if it was a baby needing stitches?
I only ask because my baby got cut bad on his anckle, and it took them near three hours to get to him to stitch him up..whats up with that?
Answers:
It depends on how many patients are waiting for treatment. At Triage they will decide whether you get priority or not.
Babies ALWAYS get priority in Singapore, whether at polyclinics or A&E (Accident & Emergency). Waiting time under half an hour.
Three hours was fast, here where I live it takes five to eight hours.
it is called triage. the most life threating injuries or illness goes first. As you said since it was not gushing blood it is not considered to be life threating.
My girfriend had a cardiac problem with chest pains and fainting...I broke every speed law on the books to get her to the hospital 30 miles away, where they let her lay in a bed for 4 hours before a doctor came to see her.
Emergency rooms are so understaffed and overstressed that they get callused towards your woes.and you never know who is is worse shape than you needing all their attention. It's a bad situation all around.
It does take a long time. It all depends on how quick you are seen and how bad you are bleeding. If it is a large wound that is gushing blood, they will stitch you up faster then a small wound that isn't bleeding as bad
