I've been having nausea in the evening around 9-10pm every night for several wks now, any ideas, c ad details?

Question:
First off, I'm not pregnant b/c I had my period and took 2 tests to make sure.

I get nausea every night and it doesn't matter if I eat or not. I'm not on any meds right now. I do have alot of stress from college and life lately, but I wouldn't think it would cause this severe of nausea each night. I know I should see a dr but I'm waiting for health insurance. I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas or has ever experienced this type of evening sickness.

Answers:
First off, I agree with others who've suggested double-checking the pregnancy possibilities.

But based on what you've said, I'm thinking you're suffering chiefly from anxiety. The reason I think this is, that you're saying you experience this every night between 9 and 10. There is no disease in the world whose symptoms strike during one particular hour of the day.

When I was in college I went through a period where I got nauseated every time I ate lunch. It didn't matter what I ate, but like clockwork after the meal I'd start feeling queasy. The weird thing was, it didn't happen after breakfast...which I ate at home.or dinner....which I ate at home. Just lunch, which I ate at school. The symptoms went away just as mysteriously as they had come.

Now if you are doing something during those hours, such as strenuous exercise or something like that, then maybe that might be a cause. But I'd suggest you look at the possibility that you are more stressed-out than you realize, and try to find ways to calm yourself down. When you get the nausea, take a hot bath or drink a cup of peppermint tea. But I wouldn't worry too much. If there were anything seriously wrong with you it wouldn't make an appointment to present itself...it would strike when you least expected it.
You could still be pregnant since that was a store bought test.

Better to go to the doctor and have them give you a test.

Yes, you can have your period and still be pregnant. I have known this to happen to people.
Sometimes pregnancy test come up negative. Might want to wait a week or so and test again. Other than that, I dont know. Is it after dinner?
It's not mine.
My first question is; are you eating enough? If you have not been eating a lot, especially not a lot of carbs, you could have Ketones. That's where your body starts burning fat for energy and it creates a sort of toxic acid in your stomach and causes nausea. The solution is to eat more. Your stress could be causing your body to burn calories faster and you need more complex carbohydrates.

My next questions are; are you more thirsty than normal, do you have to urinate more often than normal, are you tired a lot, do you have insatiable sugar cravings and have you lost significant weight? These are all symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes, but due to your age (I am assuming over 18, since you say you are in college), it is more likely to be Type II Diabetes, in which case there would be no weight loss, and more than likely your weight is probably above average.

If your answer is yes to the second set of questions, I would get to a doctor RIGHT AWAY and get your blood sugar checked. If you don't have the money, please find a way. You may need insulin or other medication to regulate your blood sugar. Best wishes, feel better soon.
