Three months after a breast reduction I am still experiencing quite a lot of pain. Is that normal?
Question:
Sometimes painful to lay on.
They itch quite a lot
I am conscious of the discomfort at all times
Answers:
Have you talked about this with your PS?
Be persistent. If you have talked to him what did he say?
Possibly talk about it with your family doctor.
People heal differently. I know some women who still had pain at three months.
The itching is normal as it means you are healing, but you shouldn't be in that much pain at three months.
I would talk to your family doctor if your PS is not helping you.
Like with everything else, everyone heals at different rates. I remember having lots of itching which was the skin closing up. It's been over a year and I'm totally fine and don't notice any difference from before the surgery (e.g., sensitivity). I did have one of the incision sites open up about 6 months later and the dr said it was not a big deal.
So, I did not have that so far after the surgery, but everyone is different. If you are concerned then I would call the dr.
Itching is normal because of the healing process of the incisions trying to close. It can also sometimes take a while for the nerves to recover from surgery too which could explain the pain you are still having.
I would recommend getting in touch with your surgeon to let them know what's going on so that they can evaluate the situation further.
