Think I fell on my wrists, and it's been hurting?
Question:
It's been almost 48 hours, and it still hurts. I started to do RICE within an hour of the pain. Rested it, iced for 20 minutes on and off, and kept it elevated. It's never gotten swollen.
I tried those icy-hot patches, but it didn't do any good. Although this neoprene wrist support helps a little.
Basically it hurts all the time, it seems centered on a point on my radius, on both hands. It hurts when I rotate or pull up/down my hand.
There's also a spot on my radius, I can poke/touch, and the main will increase a lot.
Unfortunately, I was on a trip yesterday and today, and couldn't see a doctor, and they are closed on the weekends unless its an emergency which my mom doesn't think it is.
I dunno if I sprain/strained it, or broke it, or what. What should I do?
Answers:
I would suggest taking ibuprofen, and keep up with the RICE, do you have any bruising? It sounds like it's probably a sprain. I would suggest just keeping them in the neoprene wrist supports and giving them time to heal, and if they do not start to get any better within a week I would go see a doctor. Good luck!
Sounds like you need an x-ray--you could have broken the one--if you feel "electric shocks" when you move it that's a sign of a fracture. You did the right thing with RICE. Swelling isn't always a sign of fracture. The support will help because it stabilizes the wrist--but you still need to go to ER or see an orthopedist.
it sounds like you hyper extended it, if there's no bruising , lumps, or swelling chances are its probably not broken. The doctor wont do anything for a sprain your mom cant do, take some tylenol. Trust your parents! If you were broken they would take you to get fixed.
