Why does my arm hurt?

Question:
About 2 weeks ago I was in the hospital for 5 days and had an IV in. They didn't expect me to have the IV in that long and the nurse didn't do a great job with it. It was really sore for a few days in the hospital, and when they took it out I didn't even realize it was out because it was still so sore.

For a long time I couldn't move my arm much without it hurting, I can move it more now but if I put it back too far it still hurts some. Why does it still hurt?

Answers:
It all depends on what went into the IV. I had Demerol and it burned the inside of my vein. It was very pain full for about 3 weeks. It could also be bruised internally.
