Almost encountered a hernia?

Question:
Earlier today while doing my daily workout which is 45 minutes of cardio which half of it focuses on the core, afterwards i started doing 200 ab crunches, 20 reps on 10 different kinds.

On one of them where you put your legs to the left and keep your back on the ground and do crunches normally, I could feel my groin begin to pull upwards. Upon noticing this, I took a break for a sec and tried again, but noticed i got the same feeling so I didn't. I finished my workout and felt fine. My question is, is it possible I might've almost encountered a hernia? And should I avoid those side crunches for the time being? I feel fine even now so I think I might've saved myself from a really bad situation.

Any input is really appreciated.

Answers:
Sure, it is possible. A hernia is basically damaged underlying tissues (ducts, intestines, nerves, blood vessels) pinched between muscles. When you are working out and flexing muscles, it is quite possible that you felt this type of "pinching" pain. That is why we have pain -- to warn us to pause when something might be wrong.
