Chest pain?

Question:
i have chest pain but i am 99% sure it is because my back is "out", its right over my sternum and spreads to the left occasionally and is quite sharp sometimes... this sounds dumb, but can you present with pericarditis with no aparent cause? my partner has had it before and while i know it could be anything, the pain i am describing sounds familiar to him...

Answers:
Sharp chest pain is the most common symptom of pericarditis. The pain may be worse when you are lying down or taking a deep breath. The pain lasts for hours or days and is not relieved with rest. It is different from a type of chest pain called angina, which only lasts a short time.

Other symptoms may include a mild fever, weakness, fatigue, coughing, hiccups, and muscle aches.

In the early stages of pericarditis, it may be hard to tell whether your chest pain is from inflammation or from a possible heart attack. Therefore, it is important to seek medical help as soon as possible.

**Best to get it checked out - it is always better to have cardiac involvement ruled out rather than wait until later when that decision is taken away from you by worsening symptoms!
it does sound like your back is out. However when it comes to chest pain you shoudl always go to a doctor to get it looked at because there is still that 1% that it may be something more serious.
